Caption - Long time friends Joe Dempsky and Hawk Sims in 1963-64 and during a recent reunion.  Both served on the ship
when Frank Knox was part of the Concord Squadron.  The Concord Squadron tour went to Iran before the Iranian Revolution.  Following that stop the Squadron was ordered to the Singapore Straits to reopen the Straits after the head of the Indonesian  Government had orders the straits closed to US shipping.

​FRANK KNOX during the holidays – Happy Holidays to all. Bill Snyder, GMG-3 shared the 1963 newspaper clip of the FRANK KNOX in Yokosuka December 1963 around the time the ship was notified of the “Ship of the Year” award. Five years later FRANK KNOX was in San Diego making preparations to deploy to WESTPAC January 1969. Steve Cross, LT shared this photo
